“Ticket To the Stars” is the new single from North Carolina MC ILL Tac, who, after more than two decades immersed in hip-hop culture, now presents a track with reflective lyrics and intense production.
Featuring Larrin and produced by Dr. Jonez, the song begins with a strong bass line that immediately sets an intense tone. It then shifts in rhythm and moves into a calmer, more open section. The contrast between these two styles creates the feeling of leaving a bad day behind and entering a lighter state of mind. In the quieter moments of the track, producer and DJ Mad Influence adds an acoustic guitar that softens the atmosphere, while Larrin invites listeners to join him on a space walk toward the end of the song.
In the lyrics, ILL Tac introduces ideas that may go unnoticed on a first listen. One of them is the concept of a memory palace, an ancient technique used by Roman orators to memorize long speeches. Musician Jrusalam explained this concept to ILL Tac and showed him a system that uses the hand as a guide for remembering information, as if each finger represented a point in a constellation. In the song, this idea becomes a metaphor for connecting memories, thoughts, and images within the mind.
Toward the end of the song, a refrain poses a direct question: “Believe Something?” followed by the phrase “Relief Coming.” The contrast with the beginning of the track is clear.
