KiKi Holli + The Remedy Make Every Emotion Count on “Something About You”

The journey begins with Something About You, the track that gives the EP its title. It is a seductive song about connection and desire that lands almost like a caress on the ears, settling gently, softly, and delicately into the memory.

To raise the energy, once the band has already managed to put the listener on a cloud, The Garden bursts in, a bright, summery song that brings a joyful tone to the collection with more intense instrumentation and extended high notes.

One of the most interesting offerings comes with the cover of INXS’ Don't Change, a more intimate and softer interpretation of the original that gives the lyrics new meaning through a welcoming melody. So Far Away shifts the record toward a more rock-oriented sound, exploring the weight of absence and the lingering pain of losing someone.

Closing with the most optimistic high point is Brand New Day, a catchy and joyful song that could soundtrack rebirth, that special moment when we realize that not everything is lost and that it is never too late to start again.

For this EP, Kiki Holli once again worked with producer Ethan Allen, a two-time Grammy nominee known for his work with Ben Harper, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Tricky. Allen produced, mixed, and co-wrote the record, while mastering was handled by Grammy winner Dave Collins, who has worked with Madonna, Alice Cooper, and Soundgarden.

Something About You works as a small collection of emotions that can feel completely different while still belonging to the same story.
