Dave Luv has exhibited his talent and energy with his previous songs. However, this time he is ready to show himself vulnerable with “Some Days.”
Dave Luv is a rapper originally from Chicago. In a short time, he has made a name for himself with house party anthems such as “Maintain” and “GunFire.” But he does not only create house party anthems, it is his bravery to bare his soul and expose his vulnerability in songs like “Closely” and “Psycho” that has made the audience connect with him and his lyrics, resulting in millions of views on his Youtube videos.
In his newest single, Dave comes back ready to captivate his listeners with “Some Days.” In the song, he deals with the anguish of the difficult moments magnified by the pain of a recent breakup. The inspiration came to him when he reflected on the challenge of keeping yourself enthusiastic or happy regularly. Instead, he allows himself to be imperfect, and accept the nature of being human. “Life happens one day at a time, and each one is different”, he explains.

According to Dave, the goal when writing “Some Days” was to take the feelings and experiences of sadness and numbness of bad long days and “inject them into the music where the average listener can hear it and feel those same feelings.” And certainly, he did! The piano melody mixed with the synth beat works as a road where all the memories pass by at high speed, impossible to catch any of them. The lyrics are poignant and conveyed sometimes with a meditative flow that transmits longing and grieving, and sometimes with an intricate rhyme scheme that hits with the weight of every thought of a lonely night.
The song was released along with a music video that perfectly depicts the struggle the lyrics transmit. The effort of waking up, the boring rhythm of the job, the hollowness of a walk in the afternoon, and the loneliness when coming home all seem to create a maze you want to escape, but at the same time, you observe as an NPC without having any power or motivation to change it.
“Some Days” captures the unpredictability of thoughts and feelings in the way to overcome a heartbreak. It is a reminder for those who interpret a bad day as a stepback to accept that it is ok not to be always fine. Whether your heart aches or not, “Some Days” is a song that fills you with acceptance and compassion and that should be played out loud and on repeat.
