Blaze Francisco brings a sound that cuts through the noise, reminding listeners that the authentic, visceral spirit of 90s alternative is not a relic but a living and ever-present force.
Following a national tour alongside Sebastian Bach on the 2026 “Party Never Ends Tour” and sessions at Rancho De La Luna with Alain Johannes and Dave Catching, Blaze Francisco returns with a reimagining of Republica’s 1996 anthem “Ready to Go.”
Swapping the original’s frenetic energy for a grungier, heavy arrangement, the band leans hard into the tension. Alex Weiss’ vocals bring an entirely new take to the song, shifting the atmosphere from euphoria to something more existential. The guitars hit hard, grounding the track in a hard rock grit that feels real.
But the real power of this cover lies in the subtext. For Weiss, the phrase “Ready to Go” has shed its casual tone, taking on a double meaning rooted in the fragility of our existence. Inspired by a brush with mortality, specifically a surreal near-death experience involving a fallen oak tree, the band has recontextualized the track.
“Our version became this collision of euphoria and surrender,” Weiss explains. “Basically, the soundtrack to the party at the end of the world.”

It’s an astute choice for a cover. Blaze Francisco manages to honor the energy of the original while injecting it with an honest and dark undercurrent. It feels like those songs you’d play while the horizon burns, fun and undeniably fitting.
If “Ready to Go” is any preview of what the EP holds, the band is operating at a level that demands attention.
