Mollie Elizabeth’s “Run Rabbit” Balances Whimsy and Unease in a Story of Control and Childhood Memory

“Run Rabbit” marks Mollie Elizabeth’s latest release, a whimsical yet quietly unsettling song that pulls back the curtain on the experience of growing up in an unhealthy household. Darker than it first appears, the track wraps heavy emotional weight in the kind of eerie, playful textures that have become central to her sound.

In “Run Rabbit,” she focuses on building a song about internal conflict, inherited patterns, and the way a person tries to take control of their life when they realize that not everything they learned at home is right or belongs to them.

Mollie on the track, “(...) there’s an indescribable feeling that comes along with the baggage of an imperfect childhood, one that begs the question, if you are excused for your immoral coping mechanisms because of your circumstance, or if it is your fault regardless.”

Written by Mollie alongside Josh Murty and produced by Murty, the track unfolds within an unsettling atmosphere that feels constantly tense, almost as if the song were moving carefully through a closed and dangerous space.

There are elements of alternative pop, a certain cinematic darkness, and an energy that leans toward trip-hop through its restrained pulse and shadowy mood.

“Run Rabbit” also expands the visual and sonic identity that Mollie Elizabeth has been building. Before this release, she shared “The Mirror,” “Dog Eat Dog,” “The Disappearing Girl,” and “Doe Eyes,” as well as her debut EP, “Dirty Blonde.” Across that body of work, themes such as self-image, emotional pressure, and the need to understand oneself were already present. This new single deepens that direction, but with a darker aesthetic and a more direct narrative.

At just 21 years old, Mollie Elizabeth continues to make her way through the music world with a truly bold and authentic approach. “Run Rabbit” confirms that her proposal is not based only on a striking aesthetic but on a search for writing songs about growing up, breaking patterns, and finding a form of peace without denying what hurt in the past.
