The Best Things to Do in Miami This Weekend: May 01 – 04

Miami is a mood, and this week’s events dive into the depths of that identity. As we step into May, the cultural landscape keeps evolving, always loud, often emotional, and never afraid to break the mold. This weekend captures the city’s duality: legacy and rebellion, old rhythms and new formats. Whether it’s genre-bending concerts or communal zine-making, there’s a throughline of connection to place, to memory, to movement.

Thursday sets the tone with Subterra at ZeyZey, a two-room experience rooted in Latin, African, and diasporic club music. Across town, Gramps hosts Blone Noble, girlcop, and more special guests for a night of raw post-punk and garage noise, while Beetlejuice continues its Broadway run at the Arsht Center for a theatrical jolt. Friday takes a moody turn. At Sweat Records, the listening party for Car Seat Headrest’s concept album The Scholars offers narrative depth, rare merch, and cult energy, perfect for fans who like their rock existential. And if your Friday night needs club heat, &ME offers a deep house masterclass at Jungle Island to round out the night.

Saturday comes in with layers, cinematic, sonic, and sensory. Oolite Arts presents Cuba Queer, a film program exploring LGBTQ+ life in Cuba, raw, real, and necessary. On the dancefloor, Disco Perreo 777 at Supernatural Haus throws you into a dual-room meltdown of sweat and groove. Red Room 2 brings horror and heavy bass, while the Vintage Market at Dua Hotel offers a calm, stylish start to the day with rooftop yoga and sustainable finds. Sunday slows things down just enough to reflect. The Guide to Connection at Four Café invites locals to co-create a zine that maps the real Miami, its hidden corners, unspoken favorites, and homegrown wisdom. Expect music, food, and open tables filled with stories waiting to be told. Meanwhile, Son Del Mundo closes out the weekend at the Bandshell with an open-air concert that moves through global Latin sounds and collective joy. A communal send-off before we do it all again.
