The Self-Worth Rush Behind “Turn It Up” by George Windsor

An intense dose of serotonin, the kind that in just 3:22 can bring back memories of achievements, lift your sense of pride, and remind you of your own worth. That is “Turn It Up,” the new single from singer George Windsor, who adds an anthem to his catalog that anyone can, but above all, should identify with.

“Turn It Up” stands out for the singer’s high notes and a rhythm that keeps raising the tempo, while its meaningful lyrics encourage listeners not to give up, to live life to the fullest, and to never ask for permission or forgiveness to be themselves and feel that they belong.

“I wrote the song during a point in my life when I was feeling like I couldn't speak out about anything that was affecting me in my life, relationships, or difficult friendships. I really had enough and thought to myself, ‘Enough.’ I need to turn myself up and get back to how I used to be,” he said.

Born and raised in England, George Windsor began developing his artistic identity on stages and in the streets of Birmingham, where direct contact with audiences eventually became an essential part of the way he approaches live performances and connects with people immediately.

His journey also took him to New York, where he had the opportunity to step into the professional recording world and work under the mentorship of a former Lady Gaga producer. His work with songwriter Benji Maycock became an important part of his early development as a writer, leading to a body of original music and a publishing deal. Their collaboration also produced “Name On It,” which later appeared as the theme and trailer music for the LGBTQ+ Film Festival of New York.
