There’s no love, just fun: Sam Vazquez opens up on her new single “Mua Mua Mua”

Modern dating can feel like navigating a minefield of emotional expectations, and Sam Vazquez is offering an invitation to simply stop overthinking it. The Latin pop artist’s latest single, “Mua Mua Mua,” is a flirty, carefree tune purpose-built for living entirely in the present moment. Leaving the heavy baggage of traditional romance at the door, the track thrives on the undeniable thrill of pure physical attraction and no-strings-attached fun. It’s the musical equivalent of a knowing smirk from across the room, a playful, sensual bop that practically begs to soundtrack your next pre-game or night out with friends.

Beneath the track's energy lies a very real commentary on how a new generation is choosing to connect. Sam Vazquez champions a stigma-free approach to casual relationships, proving that honesty and clear boundaries can, and should, exist without deep emotional commitments. Now, as she gears up to expand the song's universe with a conceptual four-part mini-series alongside @creadoporam, the artist is proving her creative vision extends far beyond a catchy hook. We caught up with Sam Vazquez to talk about it:

“Mua Mua Mua” has a confident, carefree vibe. What inspired you to write an anthem specifically about enjoying the moment without emotional drama?

I don't think emotional drama is necessarily a bad thing, but there's a time and place for everything. Sometimes we're deeply in love, and other times we're simply meant to enjoy the moment. "Mua Mua Mua" is a playful invitation that casually says you want to be with someone without necessarily starting a romantic relationship. I drew inspiration from my single years, when all I wanted was to have fun and not worry so much.

The lyrics include direct lines like “There’s no love, it’s just fun.” How much of your own experiences or conversations with friends influenced this track?

These kinds of stories are becoming increasingly common. Among friends, we naturally talk about when someone is seeing another person based purely on physical attraction, without seeking an emotional connection. I think living in this era gives us the freedom to be honest when meeting someone and to be more upfront about what might happen if you accept an invitation.

What do you think “Mua Mua Mua” says about the way people are dating right now?

There are many ways to connect with other people. Sometimes you don't want a committed relationship, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy spending time with someone else. The key is being clear from the beginning about the intentions behind any invitation or proposal. People today are more aware of that, and conversations around these topics happen with much less stigma.

You’re launching a four-part mini-series with @creadoporam. What is the concept behind the series, and how does it expand on the song's story?

This mini-series explores the different facets of love that can be experienced both within a relationship and on your own. With "Mua Mua Mua," we'll see a search for liberation and a desire to leave behind traditional romantic ideals.

The track is perfect for getting ready for a night out. What is your own favorite environment or mood for listening to this song?

One of the first times I heard the song was in a car with my friend Omar, the producer. Maybe it was because we'd never heard it that way before, but I instantly loved it as the perfect soundtrack for a night out with friends.

You have a strong presence on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. How does your digital audience influence the music you choose to create?

I love knowing that thanks to social media, my music can easily reach anyone who wants to listen. My online audience is incredible. Because of them, my work continues to be shared and discovered. Some of us have never even met in person, yet there's so much affection and support. It's beautiful to know that people appreciate what you do, even when we're miles apart.

With “Mua Mua Mua” live, what else can fans look forward to this year?

Expect lots of playful and fun music, heartfelt lyrics, and a new chapter in my sound.
