Aggressive without apology, charged with a fierce, almost instinctive tribal aesthetic, and carried by a powerful voice that delivers a message not confrontational by design, this is “VI0LENCE,” the new single by TwoLips, a track with a potent message, where empowerment comes across as superlative, raw, and intense.
“As a woman (and person), I don’t expect myself to be a pacifist when so many things we hold dear are under attack. Peaceful does not mean harmless. I appreciate myself best when I feel ready to protect myself and those I love, both literally and physically. My heart is soft, but my soul cannot be. My purpose is to stand as a pillar of vitality and encourage others to do the same,” says the artist.
Her work has become a strong statement hidden within hard-hitting, dance-driven music. It draws in part from her multiracial identity as a Black and Indigenous (Dena’ina, Lakota) woman, something that becomes clear not only in her lyrics and melodies but also in visuals, and the “VI0LENCE” video is a clear example of this.
Raised in Tesuque Village, New Mexico, Kianah LongChase, the creative force behind TwoLips, has built an artistic vision that extends into visual art, performance, and conceptual work. Her interdisciplinary background, which includes dance, visual arts, acting, and even elements of circus, shapes a magnetic stage presence that resists easy categorization.
That same complexity is reflected in her trajectory. TwoLips has brought her energy to key stages such as SXSW, Echo Park Rising, and celebrations like Juneteenth, as well as international festivals across Europe. At the same time, her visual art has been showcased in spaces such as Richard Levy Gallery in Albuquerque and The Heart Department in Los Angeles, reinforcing a message grounded in a fully integrated creative vision.
From a strictly musical perspective, her recent catalog has been shaping a sound that moves between raw intensity and provocation. Tracks like “SELF-CHECKOUT,” “CHAOS,” and “PPL R” act as precursors to “VI0LENCE,” leaning into an uneasy emotional space filled with tension and an aesthetic influenced by alt-rock, rap, and the edges of pop.
Within this context, “VI0LENCE” emerges as a pivotal chapter in “DIE ON EVERY HILL,” her highly anticipated debut album. The track captures a moment of inner and external confrontation, where identity is reinforced through tension and self-protection. In a landscape where boundaries are constantly tested, TwoLips offers a bold and unapologetic reflection on resilience and empowerment.
