Ed Patrick, the new marvel that has reached our attention, has just released his second EP titled "Leaf." Featuring four songs, this work of art is a collection of unreleased tracks that had been sitting on Ed’s hard drive for years, and they are sure to leave a lasting impression. As he embarked on a journey through Latin America this year, he decided to complete and release them before leaving England. Each song has its own unique touch and showcases Ed's exceptional talent as a musician.
It might seem small but it packs quite a punch! With this EP, Ed takes us on an incredible adventure. The title track "Leaf" is our first song and is a great first taste of Ed's style and sound, it is a very chill first take on what's to come. As explained by Ed, this song embodies a real-life encounter he had with someone while in Barcelona. Acoustic guitar welcomes us and makes you feel right at home. The overall listening experience of the song is greatly enhanced by Ed's calm and soothing vocals, making it a truly worthwhile listen. “Canyon” is a love letter to Los Angeles. When you listen to it, it’s like having your body get wave after wave of positive energy. One word to describe "Canyon" has to be relaxing. The next song rides high on the positivity of the last song, with a steady and calming rhythm. "Nothing To Me Now" is a poignant track delving into the complexities of unrequited love and the journey toward healing from a dark emotional state. Ed's voice is perfect for the peaceful atmosphere created by the acoustic guitar. The song has a simple and sweet melody. Overall, it's a song that makes you feel like you're at peace. Last but not least is "Life Vest," which is where we switch gears to enter alt-rock territory. With “Life Vest" Ed pays tribute to his favorite artists. Oddly enough his voice slightly reminds me of Kurt Kobain. Overall, it's a remarkable song and a spectacular way to finish our journey.
Originally from the south coast of England, Ed found his love for music through his father's old blues records and his mother's Laurel Canyon songbooks. He developed a deep appreciation for the genre, and it inspired him to pursue his musical journey. Ed left school at the age of 16 with a strong desire to follow his musical dreams. He diligently saved his money by working in the local guitar shop, ultimately accumulating enough funds to purchase a one-way ticket to North America. Ed embarked on a cross-country adventure at 18 years old, armed with a notepad filled with the phone numbers of his favorite guitar players. He aimed to learn from the talented musicians who shaped the music scene on American radio in the 70s and 80s. Throughout the journey, Ed found himself on Greyhound buses and in small-town hostels, where he was exposed to a diverse range of musical styles and influences. These experiences ignited his love for songwriting and inspired him. Over the years, his talent and hard work have paid off. He has accumulated over 15 million Spotify streams, a truly remarkable accomplishment. His music has also been featured on playlists by renowned artists such as Passenger, BBC Introducing, and many more. Furthermore, Ed's songs have found their way into various media productions. His music has synced with NBC's "New Amsterdam" and the popular US TV show "Good Trouble." This exposure has further solidified his status as a talented and respected musician.
