Star Eyes Capture Classic California Vibes on Their Debut Album

In a city known for reinvention, Star Eyes have found theirs by looking inward. The Los Angeles-based band, formerly known as Kristen Lynn & The Foxgloves, has stepped into a new chapter with Touch the Sky, a debut album that blends bluesy rock, Americana grit, and vintage soul into something both familiar and freshly personal.

Kristen Lynn leads the group with vocals, guitar, and piano. Her presence is steady and personal, shaped by years of performing and a willingness to write from painful personal places. The nickname “Star Eyes,” given to her by her grandmother, now carries the weight of memory and continuity. Around her is a tight-knit group of collaborators composed of Emmy winner Stephen Spies on violin, vocals, and piano; Grammy-nominated Bill Scott on guitar; acclaimed actor and musician Michael Kopelow on drums; and in-demand bassist Armando Wood. Each brings a distinct skill set, but the band functions as a unit, and their chemistry is audible.

Move On opens the album, with Kristen exploring the heaviness of loss and finding permission to embrace joy. The record then moves through everyday hopes and struggles, reflecting the small, real-life moments that define her journey.

The production in Touch the Sky is warm and clear, with nods to classic California songwriting. There are references to Hotel California and “California Dreamin’, but they’re woven in gently. The album doesn’t rely on nostalgia; it uses it as a reference point for something more personal.

Some standout tracks explore love and self-discovery in different ways. Playmate captures the rush of falling in love, Rainy Day imagines leaving the day job behind to be with your significant other, and the title track, Touch the Sky, reflects on self-worth with the poignant question, “What if I’ve always been enough…?”

Star Eyes has built a strong following through live shows and viral moments. Their videos have reached millions across platforms, and their performances in Los Angeles have consistently drawn packed rooms. But the band’s focus remains on the music and the people who show up for it. Their story includes early Kickstarter support, weekly livestreams during lockdown, and a deeply personal album written in the wake of loss. That history informs the present.

Touch the Sky is a record about showing up for yourself and the people around you. It’s about trusting the process, staying close to what matters, and letting the music speak clearly.
