At first glance, GinaDeBoss’ new single, “Amnesia,” presents itself as a magnetic piece of synth-pop, loaded with a rhythmic pulse that drives you to the dance floor immediately. However, behind that melodic musicalization and clean production hide lyrics that, instead of surrendering to the common lament of a breakup, dedicate themselves to exploring the complex and uncomfortable concept of distorting memories.
The verses show the urge to erase the pain to retain only the idyllic version of a past romance. GinaDeBoss expands on this premise, suggesting that this cycle of self-deception is not only a defense mechanism toward others but also a direct reflection of the harmful patterns we apply to ourselves when evading reality.
This clarity and maturity in writing turn the track into a serious matter, where there are no complacent metaphors, but rather the fragility of our own memory and the artificial refuge we build to protect ourselves from the harshness of a breakup.

Although “Amnesia” marks her formal debut as a soloist, the 16-year-old performer, born Gina De Bosschère and based in Los Angeles, demonstrates a cultural and industrial background that is atypical for her age. Raised between France, Korea, India, Canada, and the United States, the singer-songwriter was already releasing her own songs and videos at age 11. This led her to be recruited by the giant JYP Entertainment to train full-time in Korea in the disciplines of singing, dancing, and stage presence.
This technical and global background is clearly reflected in this single, co-written with Matt Wong and Jason Pennock, producers linked to projects by SHINee, Girls’ Generation, GOT7, Taemin, BoA, H.E.R., and Nick Jonas.
At the end of the day, “Amnesia” transforms vulnerability into a danceable strength, making it capable of making us dance while forcing us to face our own emotional labyrinths.
