Whiskey Flower Turns Personal Stories into Americana Anthems on "Double Yellow Lines"

Whiskey Flower, the Americana-rock duo of Julie Neumark and Holly Lucille, moves between intensity and introspection on "Double Yellow Lines," crafting songs that feel immediate, lived-in, and unflinching. The EP is a portrait of two artists sharpening their voices, exploring the moments that have shaped them, and staking a claim on their own creative space. From defiant anthems to quiet reflections, every note carries purpose, revealing a duo fully in command of their sound and vision.

The EP kicks off with “Stop Stereo.” It is gritty, powerful, and straight-up fun. The guitars run through while Julie Neumark delivers some killer vocals. This song comes in hard, firing off in all cylinders. The title track starts quieter and softer, inviting a moment of reflection before it builds into a surge of melodies and driving guitars. It’s about slowing down long enough to recognize the patterns shaping your life and choosing self-awareness over autopilot, with hooks and instrumentation that keep the energy moving throughout.

“Truth & Consequence” lands with weight and immediacy, its drums and melodies conveying frustration, hope, and uncertainty simultaneously. The song examines America’s cultural divide without taking sides, delivering a call for reflection and unity. Wrapped in robust Americana and country instrumentation, it communicates its message with clarity and urgency.

The EP closes with “Abilene,” a reflective track that revisits a Texas tour that never happened and transforms past grief into gratitude. Its gentle melodies and intimate harmonies create a contemplative anthem for those navigating self-doubt, offering a sense of resilience and the possibility of a new beginning.

Whiskey Flower is the creative and romantic team of bassist and harmony builder Holly Lucille, who made Time Magazine’s Alt 100 List, and singer-songwriter Julie Neumark, who used to be signed to Hyena Records in Benelux and Lonesome Day Records in the USA.

"Double Yellow Lines" was produced by Grammy winner John Would, who worked on Fiona Apple’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters. They recorded it live in his Los Angeles studio, keeping things raw and full of energy instead of over-polished. Drummer Kristen Gleeson-Prata from Børns plays on it, and Would adds electric guitar, banjo, and lap steel.

Listeners who enjoy artists like Reba McEntire, Fiona Apple, or Dolly Parton will recognize the same blend of Americana grit and melodic strength. Whiskey Flower balances grit and melody, vulnerability and power, crafting songs that leave a lasting impression while highlighting their unique voice as a duo.
